An Analytic Transform Kernel Derivation Method for Video Codecs

چکیده

In the standardization of versatile video coding (VVC), discrete cosine transform (DCT)-2, sine (DST)-7, and DCT-8 are regarded as primary kernels. However, DST-4 DCT-4 can also be considered kernels instead using DST-7 owing to their effectiveness in smaller resolution test sequences. To implement these different block size kernels, a considerable amount memory has allocated. Moreover, consumption store is major issue standardization. address this problem, common sparse unified matrix concept introduced study, where any kernel obtained after some mathematical operations. The proposed saves approximately 80% static by storing only few elements for DCT-2, DST-7, DCT-8. Full-required derived stored generated unit-element matrices permutation matrix. required 1648 8180 elements, each with 8-bit precision. defined composed two parts: DST-3 grouped used derive points DCT-2 new technique grouping introduced, which shows relationship between rows various sizes. supports fast algorithm implementing method “one group one feature” principle. simulation was conducted VTM-3.0 reference software under conditions. result all intra (AI) configuration Y = 0.00%, U −0.02%, V 0.00% an encoding time 100%, decoding 100%. Adapting Standard Video Codecs for Depth Streaming

Cameras that can acquire a continuous stream of depth images are now commonly available, for instance the Microsoft Kinect. It may seem that one should be able to stream these depth videos using standard video codecs, such as VP8 or H.264. However, the quality degrades considerably as the compression algorithms are geared towards standard three-channel (8-bit) colour video, whereas depth videos...

Optimization of Low−delay Wavelet Video Codecs

Abstract : The paper deals with lifting implementations of the motion−compensated temporal filter banks in the (t+2D) wavelet codecs. The paper is focused on the problem of optimum setup of the analysis and synthesis filters with the maximum coding efficiency possible for a given delay constrain. Systematic exhaustive experiments have been performed in order to find optimum setup as well as cod...

SIC and Wavelet Software Video Codecs

In order to achieve low bit rate transmission of video data, compression techniques are needed. Segmented image coding (SIC) and wavelet are two relatively new but powerful techniques used for compression of still images and/or video. The low complexity of these compression techniques allows software implementation on general purpose processors. A SIC and a wavelet compression algorithm, propri...

Comparison of Fixed-rate Video Codecs for Wireless Videophony

A comparative study of arbitrarily programmable, but xed-rate videophone codecs using quarter common intermediate format (QCIF) video sequences scanned at 10 frames/s is o ered. These codecs were designed to allow direct replacement of mobile radio voice codecs in second generation wireless systems, such as the Pan-European GSM, the American IS-54 and IS-95 as well as the Japanese systems, oper...

Software Codecs and Works Station Video Conferences

Video conference, today, is a heavy application. Users have to invest in costly studios and codecs, and must use dedicated network connections. However, the growing computing power of RISC work stations open new possibilities. As a feasibility exercise, we have realized a software implementation of the H.261 video-conference standard, in a "standard" environment, under UNIX and X-Windows. We ha...
